Meet the team

Coach Fritz

Coach Fritz has a reputation as one of the most experienced and productive coaches in Division II. He finished his career in the top ten in wins and win percentage in D-2. During his career, he started 2 college lacrosse programs and 2 very successful High School programs and rebuilt two more and still recorded 214 career wins. Coach Fritz has been instrumental in the development of Division II Lacrosse within the USILA and the NCAA. He is also known for building the sport of lacrosse across the Southeast. He was the founding board member for the Charlotte Lacrosse Boosters and serves as a board member for the Youth Lacrosse USA.

Over the last 26 years, he has won seven conference championships, selected to play in the NCAA playoffs, produced 33 all-Americans, six academic all-Americans, 110 all-conference selections, 26 All-tournament selections, 2 conference of the year winners, four NCAA record holders, four world team players, 11 North-South selections, and had four players drafted into to the National Lacrosse League including an all pro and rookie of the year and NLL champion. In addition, Fritz has been named the conference coach of the year six times and has been selected twice to coach in the Division 1 and 2 North South Game. He also paved the way for Queens to move from Division 2 to Division 1.

Fritz has been inducted into both the Pfeiffer University and Montclair State Hall of Fame. He holds school records for career coaching victories at both Pfeiffer and Queens, as well as in the Deep South Conference. 

He also continues to develop coaches as 12 former assistants are Division I head or assistant coaches, 3 who coached Pro Lacrosse and 20 former players from Pfeiffer and Queens are in coaching at various levels.

Fritz believes in the development of lacrosse on an international level as well. He spent 1 year in England working for the English Lacrosse Union to develop the sport there. In 1998, he hosted England’s World team as they prepared for the World Games, and he has sent six former players to coach overseas and 1 former assistant coach and 1 former player, both coach for their national teams. Fritz has participated in NCAA YES Clinics and has been selected twice to speak at the National Lacrosse Coach’s Convention.

Fritz served on the US Lacrosse Executive Committee and the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships Committee for four years during the time the committee was instrumental in moving the championship game from a college campus to a professional venue. He started a national campaign among lacrosse programs to support the victims of Sandy Hook.

An active promoter of the sport in the greater Charlotte area and NC, Fritz has served on the board of both Youth Lacrosse USA and was a founding board member of the Charlotte Lacrosse Boosters. He has run the Jim Fritz Winning Edge Lacrosse Camps for two decades, which included the first girls camp in NC and has been an active speaker at various lacrosse camps. He has been published on uslaxcamps.com, in Charlotte Lacrosse News and in Inside Lacrosse magazine.

Coach Joe

A veteran of 40 years in the game of lacrosse, Coach Cornett started his lacrosse journey playing for Severna Park, one of the best programs in MD where he captained the lacrosse and football team and helped lead both teams to the County Championship. After HS went on to play at JUCO power Ann Arundel before graduating from Towson State. Upon moving to SC played for Charleston Lacrosse Club where he was their leading scorer.

He has been instrumental in growing he game in Horry County, starting the first high school program in the county as well as the North Myrtle Beach program. He also started the little league lacrosse league in North Myrtle Beach. He also helped coach the Shamrocks Lacrosse Club.

A second degree brown belt and coach of Brazilian Jujitsu , Joe Lives in North Myrtle Beachwhere he own and operates LHT Cooling, Heating and Refrigeration Inc.

Coach Brian

Coach Brian began his playing career in Westfield New Jersey. He started playing youth lacrosse in elementary school in their local youth program in the 1980’s. He was soon slotted as a defenseman and played long pole for his entire playing career at Westfield under some of the best coaches in the area. After playing at Westfield, he continued to play club lacrosse college in New Jersey and went on to play college football at Trenton State College/The College of New Jersey.

Upon graduating college, he coached for several youth Football and Lacrosse programs. He relocated with his family to South Carolina and continued his passion for the sport by forming a private club team, which he is still the director and head coach of in the Myrtle Beach area.

He has also served as an assistant coach and defensive positioning coach for local club and highschool lacrosse programs. He coaches both girls and boys lacrosse for private club teams and provides small group/individual training clinics for players in Myrtle Beach area.
